Located just 120 Kilometres from Cape Town at the southern tip of Africa, the Hermanus Golf Club offers the keen golfer 18 incredible holes of golf. The course is set in magnificent scenery with views of the sea and a backdrop of the mountains. Wild life and natural Cape flora are attractive features and the many trees provide the beauty for ideal golfing terrain.The whale capital Hermanus offers in season (July to early December) besides golfing also good whale-watching. When you can't spot whales in the sea, you can watch baboons crossing the fairways and pinching the balls. After years of careful planning and environmental research, final approval for the Hermanus Golf Estate development was granted by the Provincial authorities on 30 September 2003. This clears the way for the addition of another nine holes to this much-loved course – resulting in a 27-hole championship course designed by Matkovich and Hayes.

Arabella Golf Estate - 20 Minutes drive from Misty Waves Hotel in Hermanus

The Arabella Golf course is a very exclusive golf course partially situated alongside a lagoon in a nature reserve. Water is the most prominent feature, and it seems to magically attract the balls. At strategic places, where there is no water, bunkers have been placed. The lagoon landscape is attractive, and the Arabella ranks among the ten most beautiful courses in South Africa. The course is always in excellent condition, with well-trimmed fairways and extremely fast greens

The course was awarded the Golf Digest award for the best new course in South Africa in 1999. In 2002, the course was rated number 9 in South Africa by Golf Digest and number 5 in 2003. Arabella Golf Club was awarded the Compleat Golfer Five Star award in 2003.


Fancourt Golf Estate - 4 hour drive from Misty Waves Hotel in Hermanus

Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate has four golf courses to offer the golfing visitor. All the courses are renowned for their amazing year round condition and the attention to detail that is shown.

The Montagu and Outeniqua are two world class parkland layouts rated in the top 10 South African courses. Both courses are very similar and present a true test of golf in aesthetically beautiful surroundings.

The Links course at Fancourt Golf Club was opened in November 2000 and Bramble Hill is the fourth course on the estate. It is a Parkland course with Links features and offers a nice mix of the estate's other three courses. Designer of the Gary Player Design Company says, "Our brief from Fancourt owners, was to produce a course that can achieve a ranking within the world's top 100 by 2005. We intend to achieve that goal."

Erinvale Golf Course was selected as the venue for the 1996 World Cup of Golf, the only South African course ever to have been so honoured. Situated at the foot of the Hottenstots Holland and Helderberg Mountains in Somerset West, this is one of the best and most beautiful golf courses in South Africa. This Gary Player design is a course of two separate and contrasting nine holes. The front nine meanders through flat parkland terrain and the many houses on this part of the estate, while the back nine climbs drastically up the mountain with views of the coastline from the top holes. There is a lot of water and some unusual pothole sand traps.

This fantastic course lies next to the Stellenbosch Golf Club. At first sight it doesn't look like much, but once you've played a round, your scorecard will reflect its difficulty. The Blaauwklippen river meanders through the grounds and is often part of the game. Length 267 metres.

This championship course designed by Ken Alkin, is a challenge to your skill and a pleasure to your eye. The view from the clubhouse towards the old town of Stellenbosch, the surrounding vineyards, the majestic mountains and Table Mountain in the distance - just amazing! Many old trees, a well-kept lawn and fast greens contribute to the splendour. This championship golf course of the popular university town of Stellenbosch is beautifully situated in the middle of vineyards and is a most popular golf course of the winelands. The place has everything a championship course needs. In 1999, the "South African Open" were played here.


Steenberg - 60 Minutes scenic drive from Misty Waves Hotel in Hermanus

Steenberg is situated in the suburb of Tokai about 20 km from the Cape Town city center. Designed by renowned architect Peter Malkovich; the course nestles under the Constantia mountains in the Constantia valley. The Steenberg course meanders through the vineyards of South Africa's oldest wine farm. The setting adds to the attractiveness of the course - providing glorious views of vineyards, bush and mountain flora.


Somerset West Country Club - 60 Minutes scenic drive from Misty Waves Hotel in Hermanus

Although Somerset West is an interesting course. It makes demands of the sport as such, and you have to work quite hard to hit the greens, which are not exactly big. Also unusual are the white squirrels which charge across the course everywhere. The views from this golf course are beautiful!
